  • NEW IN 2018

More Texas medical students will be empowered thanks to a generous gift from Roberto J. Bayardo, MD, Houston, that established the TMAF Medical Student Scholarship and Grant Trust Fund of Dr. Roberto J. and Agniela (Annie) Bayardo.

The new fund matches scholarships provided by TMA county medical societies and supports grants awarded to TMA medical student chapters for community outreach and health improvement initiatives..

A TMAF survey of six large state medical association foundations revealed that TMA is the only association whose foundation supports its statewide community health improvement initiatives, and whose members, joined by TMAA members and community groups, volunteer on a large scale to “improve the health of all Texans” in this way..

  • Medical Student Community Leadership Grants

    Student Grants

$11,000 in grants supporting four TMA Medical Student Section Chapter health initiatives was presented by TMAF President Leslie H. Secrest, MD, at the TMA Fall Conference in September. These grants were made possible by the TMAF Medical Student Scholarship and Grant Trust Fund of Dr. Roberto J. and Agniela (Annie) Bayardo.
