Cigna Launches Digital Newsroom for Payer Updates
By Alisa Pierce

Physicians and practice staff looking for updates from one of Texas’ major payers, Cigna Healthcare, can now refer to the company’s new digital newsroom.

Cigna’s Provider Newsroom gives physicians “a single source of news for many of our lines of business, including commercial medical [coverage], Medicare Advantage, and behavioral health,” a company press release states. The platform also offers information that can help physicians understand Cigna’s various health plan provisions and networks, including:

  • An overview of the latest news, research, leadership, and articles related to Cigna;
  • Recent policy updates;
  • New electronic tools or services offered by Cigna;
  • Information on patient-related issues; and
  • Other health-related news and trends.

Cigna says the platform was created to replace the payer’s network newsletters – Network News, Network Insider, and Transformations – and that it will provide 24/7 access to health care updates that are important to physician practices.

Physicians can continue to access the Cigna for Health Care Professionals website for routine, day-to-day business processes, including checking patient benefits and eligibility, requesting claims reconsiderations, and enrolling in and managing electronic funds transfers, the company says.
