Board Member Highlight: Subhan Tabba, MD

Name: Subhan Tabba, MD

Specialty: Internal Medicine

City: Dallas

County Medical Society: Dallas

Subhan Tabba, MD, was elected in 2023 to a one-year term on the TMA Board of Trustees, representing the TMA Resident and Fellow Section (RFS).

Dr. Tabba was drawn to organized medicine because he wants to positively influence his patients’ lives beyond the walls of his practice and prevent outside forces from affecting patient care.

“I strongly believe access to quality health care is a fundamental right that should be respected and protected,” he said. “However, there are many obstacles such as government regulations and profit-driven entities that prioritize their own interests over the well-being of patients and physicians.”

The young physician is a first-generation Pakistani American motivated to provide culturally competent medical care and advocacy for marginalized communities.

He has worked at a community hospital that cares for the most underserved population in Dallas and set up volunteer-supported mobile health clinics to provide care in underserved, homeless, and refugee communities.

A TMA member for eight years, he represents residents and fellows on the association’s Council on Health Service Organizations and Patient-Physician Advocacy Committee. Dr. Tabba also serves as a section delegate for the RFS at the American Medical Association. He also is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society.

Dr. Tabba believes young physicians should participate in organized medicine “to recognize the influence and potential impact they possess.”

“Being actively involved, advocating for causes that inspire you, and making a positive impact is a crucial responsibility that can be incredibly fulfilling,” he said.
