May 30, 2023

A Corpus Christi pediatrician has been reelected to represent Texas physicians on the national level at the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates.

Gary W. Floyd, MD, the outgoing president of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) and a physician in practice for 44 years, was reelected as an AMA delegate. In this role, he and his Texas Delegation colleagues help shape national health care policy.

The TMA House of Delegates, the organization’s policymaking body, elected the physician leader during TexMed, TMA’s annual conference, held in Fort Worth this year.

A longtime Fort Worth-area physician who recently moved to Corpus Christi, Dr. Floyd remains a member of the Tarrant County Medical Society.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 57,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
